US Congressman Tom Reynolds has secured FY2008 DOD Appropriations funding for Lithos Robotics Corporation. This funding will be used to perform research in autonomous manipulation targeted for robots used by our EOD teams throughout the world.

Monolith Vs. Remotec Hybrid - Head to Head Test

A bomb squad in Tampa, FL recently performed a test of our Monolith Digital Controller vs. the new Remotec Hybrid radio (the $54k radio). Our performance was pretty close to theirs, at a much lower cost. See the Monolith pages for the performance comparison illustrated on a satellite photo.

The same team also did a line of sight test - they measured good performance out to about 2 miles. They trucked the robot out to that range to do the test, the batteries in the vehicle probably wouldn’t go that far.

4 Watt Amplifier Modules

We will be offering 4 Watt amplifier modules as an upgrade for the Monolith Digital Controller starting in June. These will raise the output power of the controller to 4 Watts, increasing performance in both line of sight and non line of sight environments.

End users will be responsible for acquiring the appropriate FCC license for the resulting system. Lithos Robotics Corporation will provide necessary technical information to users as they apply for their licences.

A screwdrive and nut driver (or socket wrench) are all that is required for users to install these modules in their existing controllers.

Military Version of Monolith Digital Controller

The Military Upgrade consists of frequency converters and antennas to shift the operating frequency of our digital controllers to a military frequency band. Output power is also increased to 2W. There is a choice of two different converters, operating at different frequencies. The frequency converters can easily be installed in the field using standard hand tools.

Upgrade of Remotec NLR to Monolith Digital Controller Ships

The upgrade from the Remotec NLR radio to the Monolith Digital Controller will be available starting January 2007. Users will see a major increase in performance, especially when operating around obstacles. This no license required digital radio performs better than Remotec’s 5W FM (analog) radio. Monolith Performance Comparison

The upgrade includes numerous software changes as well as new radio hardware components. The radio has also been repackaged to significantly reduce set-up time.

New Contract Award

AAI was awarded a contract from the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division on December 29, 2005. The funding will be used for the development of enhancements and accessories for our digital radio system, as well as for research in visually guided autonomous navigation.

No License Required Radio Ships
